Time for yet another survey! This time I am interested in learning more about the intellectual organization available at other school archives. We have such a wide variety of practices, which can be daunting for the new school archivist, or for veteran archivists searching for standards. Curious about current practices, I created a survey at:
This has been open for about a week and a half, and to date we have 40 responses. It’s a good start, but there are about 1400 private K-12 schools who are NAIS members. Granted, not all have a school archives, but I’m hoping to get a larger response rate. This survey is not just for private schools, but is also open to public schools who also have a school archives.
This is part of my research into restructuring intellectual organization within an archives. In addition to this original survey, I will be conducting a literature review and researching what other types of archives do when they wish to re-arrange their record groups or manuscript collections.
Please pass along this link to friends and colleagues, but remember, it is structured for K-12 schools, not colleges or universities. If you have any questions or comments, please send them to me directly at pamelanye “at” westminster.net.
