Beginnings

As the newest Archivist at The Westminster Schools, a private K-12 school in Atlanta, Georgia, I wanted to make sure to get “plugged in” to the school archives community. I have worked in archives for 20 years, but had not yet worked in a K-12 school, and very much looked forward to the new challenges and environment.

However, there wasn’t a blog specifically for school archivists–there are plenty for university archives, for “lone arrangers,” or general blogs. Therefore, in the interest of providing a forum for sharing information among the school archives community, I have created this blog. While I will be the primary blogger, I hope to have guest bloggers on a variety of topics, as well as provide a central place for general information for those getting started on the school archives path–especially those who are new to the archives profession as well.

Please let me know what topics you would like to see here, and I look forward to getting to know you!

  1. What a fantastic idea! I look forward to reading more posts. I’d also love to see how your school archives fits in with the school library (if there is one) or if it is run more through the admin side (Communications, Development, etc).
